  • Who is Sturgill Simpson?

    By mackey199
I didn’t know who he was. I hate country. I LOVE this conception. It reminds me of QOTSA’s ...Like Clockwork.
  • I can’t stop listening to this album

This man and this band couldn’t stop killing it if they tried.
  • Incredible

And made even more so knowing that he had fun doing it. I haven’t actually listened to his old stuff, but it seems like most of the low ratings are just because this is something different than what his fans are used to. I think it’s wonderful when an artist branches out, and especially wonderful when it comes out as well as this.
  • Hard to hear Sturgill’s voice

    By Resident Bad#@&
I like hearing Sturgill’s unique voice and the techno beats just overpower him on every track here. A Sailor’s Guide to Earth was an absolute masterpiece and I was hoping to hear the heart felt raw emotion in this album as well.

I ad ne’er heard of him before this cd. I’m not a fan of country music at all. But this is not country! This really rocks! Love it!

Holy cow!! I can’t get enough of this album. I have to admit I was originally disappointed because I just discovered Sturgill during this past year and REALLY liked his first 3 albums, and this... well this is not those. I guess it was on the third listen through when I read the lyrics with the music that it hooked me, and oh man did it ever hook me! I believe this will go down as one of the great albums of the decade. Maybe the most appropriately titled album I can think of. Although, a better title might have been Here’s My Middle Finger... to all the money grabbing big wigs, to all the cookie cutter producers, to all his conveniently new friends, and to all his fans that think he should be in a box (like some of the reviewers I’ve seen on here). I was one of these fans 2 listens in. Now I say, “Make Art, my man! Make Art!”
